A proper safari within reach of Cape Town. Just under two hours through the Du Toitskloof and Hex River mountains to Aquila Private Game Reserve, where an open game vehicle and an Aquila ranger take you looking for lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and giraffe in the Karoo foothills. Lunch at the lodge is part of the Aquila ticket. Because it's a long way out, the day carries a long-distance supplement for the extra fuel and driving time.
