Tour Highlights & What We Cover

Four hours, two urban wineries, a visit to a bean-to-bar chocolate maker (tasting optional, paid on the day) and 350 years of Cape wine history — all within walking distance in the city centre. You'll begin with a ninety-minute guided Syrah tasting at Minimalist Wines, a working urban winery in Gardens, learning how vineyard site and a minimal-intervention approach shape each bottle. Then we walk: through Company's Garden, where the Cape's first vines were planted in 1655, along St George's Mall and through Greenmarket Square, with your guide tying the city's port, trade and people to the wine culture in your glass. A stop at Honest Chocolate on Wale Street draws out the shared language of origin, acidity and craft, and the walk ends at Dorrance Wines and Bouchon in Heritage Square for a final hour of tasting.

Our Local Heritage Perspective

Cape Town's wine culture usually means a day trip to the countryside — but this experience keeps you in the city, tying the history in its streets to the new generation of urban winemakers working within them. Our local guides tell Cape Town's story honestly and first-hand, then champion the independent producers and share the personalities and philosophies behind each vintage. As a proudly local operator, we love spotlighting the makers and the histories that don't always get the limelight.

Meeting Point & Safety Details

We meet at Minimalist Wines, 2B Roodehek Street, Gardens, on the corner of Roodehek and Hope Streets — look for your guide in a branded One Day Africa t-shirt. Tours start at 12:00. The walk covers flat, easy city streets between Gardens and the city centre, so wear comfortable shoes; every tasting stop is indoors, so we run rain or shine. The tour ends at Bouchon Wine Bar and Bistro, 95 Hout Street, Heritage Square, in the city centre — an easy walk or short ride from most city accommodation. Groups are capped at ten guests, and because wine is served throughout, this is strictly 18 and over with a valid ID.
