Landing at Cape Town International (CPT) and wondering how to get into town? The airport is about 20 km from the city centre, and there are four realistic options.
1. Ride-hailing apps
Uber and Bolt both operate from the airport and are the cheapest option for one or two people with light bags. The catch: cars take four passengers at most, the price moves with demand, and you'll wait outside the terminal for your driver.
2. Airport taxis
Metered taxis wait outside arrivals. They're convenient but usually cost more than an app, so agree on the fare before you set off.
3. The MyCiTi bus
The MyCiTi airport bus runs to the Civic Centre in the city centre. It's cheap and reliable, but you need a myconnect card, and you'll still need a lift from the Civic Centre to your accommodation.
4. A private transfer
A private transfer is booked before you fly. Your driver tracks your flight, meets you in the arrivals hall with a name board, and takes you straight to your door. It's the calmest option after a long flight, and usually the best value for families and groups, because you pay per vehicle rather than per person.

How long does it take?
- City centre and V&A Waterfront: 25–35 minutes. See airport to the V&A Waterfront.
- Camps Bay and Sea Point: 30–40 minutes.

Allow extra time in the weekday rush hours of 07:00–09:00 and 16:00–18:00.
