The drive
It's a straight run in on the N2, past the townships of the Cape Flats and into the city bowl with Devil's Peak and Table Mountain ahead of you — for most guests this is their first real sight of the mountain, and we're happy to slow down for it. Traffic into town builds between 07:00 and 09:00, so a morning landing can push the drive nearer 35 or 40 minutes.
Getting to your hotel door
The Waterfront is a working harbour precinct with controlled access, one-way loops and hotels tucked behind the shopping centre — the Table Bay, the Silo, the Queen Victoria and the Radisson Red all have different approaches, and several are not where a map pin suggests. Our drivers know the precinct, so you're dropped at reception rather than left at a boom gate with your luggage.
First evening in the city
If you land in the afternoon, the Waterfront is a forgiving first evening — you can walk to dinner, the aquarium and the harbour without arranging anything. Table Mountain's cableway and the Robben Island ferry both run from nearby, and both are weather-dependent, which is worth knowing before you commit your only clear day to one of them.
