The drive
You leave the airport on the N2 heading east, turn off at the R310 and come into Stellenbosch past the vineyards on Baden Powell and the Polkadraai hills — which is why this route often feels shorter than the 50 km suggests. It avoids the city bowl and the Waterfront entirely, so it stays clear even in Cape Town's afternoon peak. Allow closer to 40 minutes if you land between 16:00 and 18:00 on a weekday.
Where we drop you
Stellenbosch guesthouses are scattered between the historic centre, the surrounding wine estates and the outlying farms at Devon Valley and Jonkershoek — some are a good 15 minutes apart. Give us the property name and address when you book and we take you to its door, including estates with gated entrances and long farm approaches where a metered ride will often stop at the gate.
Arriving during harvest
February and March are harvest, and Stellenbosch is at its busiest — estates fill up, roads carry tractors, and the light is worth being awake for. It's also the season we get asked most often to add a Winelands day after the transfer. If your plans might grow, mention it when you book so we can hold the same driver and vehicle for you.
